Performing repairs on classic homes can be challenging and very rewarding work. The Multimaster is a power tool consisting of a driver that oscillates at an adjustable 12,000 to 21,000 cycles per minute with an assortment of accessory tools applicable to a wide variety of finishing tasks. The user of this tool can attach a blade to make a vertical cut to remove the damaged trim segment, then a sanding head to polish the cut in preparation for installation of a repair piece, thus saving considerable expense over replacing a roomful of trim. The Fein Multimaster is not a tool for everybody, however. Its well-crafted design, durability, and versatility come at a price that an ordinary homeowner will probably not want to spend. In fact, a person who might use it only once or twice should probably pass on it. Also, an inconvenience that may annoy some purchasers is the plastic case built to store and carry the tool; a canvas tote may well be a better and certainly less expensive option. This is a time- and labor-saving tool that a tradesman whose line of business demands repeated precision cutting and sanding in the field will want to use quite often, and it can pay for itself in just a few uses. Overall, it is an effective and useful piece of equipment that, in the right hands, is well worth the expense.
