Fitting blinds in a conservatory

A conservatory is an important part of a house and can also be turned into one of the most beautiful places. It not only houses your ferns and flora but also keeps your gardening interest alive. So besides the plants, it’s equally important to care about the windows, roof, and other parts of the conservatory. They too need to be cleaned and maintained properly.
Fitting blinds is one good idea to adopt for a conservatory. They not only enhance the look & feel of the conservatory but also add that cozy effect making it more like a part of the whole house. Conservatories usually have high ceilings with roofs made of glass. Glass prevents the room from being icy cold in winter and too hot in summer. Fitting blinds in the roof may not be a good option because they will cause the direct sunrays to trap between ceiling and blinds, thus causing excessive heating. Windows are the best option to fit blinds to. They add beauty to the place and also work as an element of privacy as one can always unfold the blinds when it gets dark outside.
Here are some handy tips for fitting blinds in windows of a conservatory.
Choice of blinds – There are a variety of blinds available and the choice could be made on the basis of price effectiveness or design. Some important factors to consider while choosing the blind are
1. Horizontal or Vertical Blind: Vertical blinds hang from the window vertically whereas horizontal blinds hang horizontally. Usually vertical blinds are used for large windows and horizontal blinds are used for smaller openings.
2. Blind material: They are usually made of vinyl, fabric, aluminum, or woven wood. Blinds made of vinyl and aluminum are very affordable whereas wooden blinds cost more. Since a conservatory does not demand as much artwork as your drawing room, one could go either way.
3. Color & Appearance: If you don’t have some specific choice of color in mind for the conservatory blinds, then go for earthen colors and simple-looking blinds so as to add the natural beauty touch to your greenhouse (conservatory).
4. Working parts: The raising/lowering mechanism of blinds and the durability of material should be considered before making the choice. Blinds should be easy to use & durable enough to bear the temperatures inside a conservatory. The parts to focus on are the roller of the blind, the valance, and the mounting piece.
Once you have purchased the blinds:
Bring them home and unpack. All the fixtures and fitting tools will be inside the blind packaging.
Decide where you want your blinds to be drilled and mark out those points.
Drill the holes and screw the brackets into place.
Now carefully fit blinds in those holes.
