The cleaning of a broiler heat exchanger is not an easy task; in fact it is generally recommended that a professional clean them. Often times the heat exchangers are overused and are operated until they are on the brink of failing. If your heat exchanger is overflowing with nasty deposits of gunk, you may find this information useful. By cleaning it you’ll be able to increase the efficiency of your equipment and prolong its life.

If you have some tube cleaners on hand these are usually able to clean out broiler heat exchangers. In order to do so you’ll need to follow the directions on the back of the bottle. Most tube cleanser products come with a long list of instructions. Sometimes tube cleaners will not be sufficient and you’ll need to move on to a different method.

Another method to clean out a broiler heat exchanger is by using a hydro-blasting method. It is not recommended for an individual not skilled in the task to use hydro-blasting as there are many concerns about safety. If this method is really necessary to clean your hear exchange contact a contractor who is skilled in this technique. You’ll find a list of numbers in the Yellow Pages.

If you want to get down and dirty there is also the option of drilling the tubes out. To do this you’ll need to first get a drilling area ready on the site where the broiler heat exchangers are present. Next you’ll need to remove the tube bundles from the main frame and take it back to the assigned area. It is then mounted and the tubes are drilled out. To do this you’ll have to use a carbide-tipped drill while flushing water out of the tubes at the same time. After this is done the tubes are reinstalled back into the proper area. Since this is such a complicated task it often carries a very high price tag.

If you have an air-powered drill you can drill the tubes out by hand. This is probably one of the most effective ways for an individual to remove the tools. It is recommended that safety precautions be taken first and a bit of research be done in the area of broiler heat exchangers before proceeding with this task. Unlike hydro-blasting this does not always have to be performed by a trained professional, as it is quite a bit less dangerous. Do note, however, that it still has its risks.

Cleaning your broiler heat exchanger can prolong the life of your equipment and help save costs. If done properly your equipment will last for many more years and will not need to be replaced as often. This is a great way to reduce the labor required and improve the way your equipment runs.
